Burna Boy has become the first African artist to have a UK Number 1 album with “I Told Them,” according to the Official Charts Company. Burna Boy has achieved the remarkable feat by becoming the first African artist to secure the top spot on the UK albums chart with his latest album, “I Told Them”. On Friday, the Official Charts Company confirmed that Burna Boy’s seventh studio album debuted at number one, officially making him the first-ever African artist to achieve this milestone. The Grammy-winning Nigerian singer, whose real name is Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, has etched his name in history with this achievement.
The company tweeted.

An excited Burna Boy quoted the tweet with the caption,

The popularity of the Afrobeats genre has been on the rise worldwide in recent years. Its sound is increasingly infiltrating the UK Official Charts and shaping popular culture. While homegrown British talent such as J Hus has also enjoyed chart-topping success on the Official Albums Chart, Burna Boy has become the first international Afrobeats star to cement such a place in UK chart history. He expressed the significance of his achievement to the crowd.
