Coco’s victory at the 23rd annual BET Awards has sparked early Grammy buzz, as she became the first female R&B singer to win the Best New Artist category since SZA five years ago. Her live performance of “ICU” at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles was a highlight of the awards show.

In addition to her BET Awards win, Coco received nominations for Best Female R&B/Pop and Best Actress. She was also nominated as ‘Best New Artist’ at the BET Soul Train Awards ’22 and won ‘Outstanding New Artist’ at the 54th NAACP Image Awards. Her performance on NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon left audiences nationwide in awe.

“ICU” is a standout track on Coco’s WHAT I DIDN’T TELL YOU DELUXE EP, which was released via High Standardz/Def Jam Recordings in January. The EP has already amassed over 300 million global streams across all platforms and was named one of the Top 10 Best Songs of 2022 by The Hollywood Reporter.

Coco, who began her career as a young Disney star, has had a landmark year in 2023. She joined the cast of Peacock’s Bel-Air, the Fresh Prince reboot that premiered in February 2022. Coco is set to embark on her first major North American tour, the ‘WHAT I DIDN’T TELL YOU TOUR,’ in August. The 16-city tour will kick off in Ontario, California, and conclude in Norfolk, Virginia, in September. Detroit R&B singer Ebony Riley, Seattle singer Haben Abraham, and Coco’s fellow Peacock Bel-Air castmate Simone Joy Jones will be joining her on select dates.
