Eedris Abdulkareem Addresses Burna Boy In An Open Letter For Having Wished Him Dead

Eedris Abdulkareem, one of the veterans of Nigerian music, has written an open letter to his junior colleague Burna Boy, expressing disappointment and discussing recent heated exchanges between the two artists.

The rift between Abdulkareem and Burna Boy intensified when the latter was accused of disrespecting Afrobeats and of stealing songs from Fela Kuti’s repertoire. Abdulkareem’s letter was posted on Instagram on Saturday, February 17, 2024, and it showed how shocked he was by Burna Boy’s alleged wish for his death and his criticism of his health issues.

In the touching post, Abdulkareem denounced Burna Boy’s alleged mockery of his health crisis and disparaged those who helped him recover, calling such behavior deeply regrettable. Threats to his life were also criticized by him, who called them indecent and unworthy.

Declaring Burna Boy’s recent move to be “the most nauseating foul prank of all time,” Abdulkareem lamented the well-known artist’s apparent insensitivity and haughtiness. He made it clear that he wanted to answer to Burna Boy through music, teasing a future song called “Essay to Burn Boy.”

The public and ethical Nigerians have taken notice of the open letter and it has spurred discussion. Following Abdulkareem’s revelation that he would be responding musically, fans are excitedly anticipating his upcoming single, which will address the continuing disagreement between the two musicians.
