Asake Shares How He Became A YBNL Music Label Signee

Nigerian music sensation, Asake, has revealed how he landed his life-changing YBNL record deal with Olamide. In an interview with Cool FM, the “Joha” singer spoke with the on-air OAPs and answered questions about his career and journey as an artist. Asake revealed that he had been messaging the YBNL boss for a long time, and that he had already signed two of his friends and fellow university alumni, Fireboy DML and Chinko Ekun.

Then fate had a baby with favor when he recorded “Omo Ope,” the song that significantly changed his life after his good friend Yhemo Lee submitted it to Olamide. After hearing the song, Baddo saw great potential in Asake and immediately asked him over and offered him a record deal. Asake expressed his surprise at how quickly everything turned out.

During the interview, he said that he was too ecstatic and overwhelmed to even read the details of his contract documents. But he eventually did, signing the papers to become a legal part of the YBNL family. Soon after, he released his debut EP, “Ololade,” which included a remix of “Omo Ope,” featuring Olamide; the number-one hit that first put him on the map. Also, “Sungba,” one of the biggest songs of 2022, was produced by the project. Check out the interview below.
