John Michael Montgomery Declares His Retirement From Touring

John Michael Montgomery is bidding adieu to his touring lifestyle.

The “Life’s a Dance” hit-maker said on Monday, January 1, via his official Facebook page, that the tour dates he has scheduled for 2024–2025 will be his last run as he concludes his touring career.  Montgomery did not give a clear explanation in his post for why he decided to stop touring.

Montgomery currently has shows scheduled for January, March, April, May, and October of 2024. The Country Music Association’s Horizon Award was given to the native of Kentucky in 1994 after his breakthrough single, “Life’s a Dance,” reached the top 5 Hot Country Songs in 1993.

Starting with the three-week No. 1 “I Love the Way You Love Me,” he would later go on to add seven No. 1 Hot Country Songs successes to his repertoire. In 1994, the romantic ballad “I Swear” became the number one song for four weeks in the Hot Country Songs chart and peaked at No. 42 on the all-genre Hot 100.

Montgomery received a Grammy nomination for best male country vocal performance in addition to winning a CMA Award for single of the year. The 2004 smash song “Letters From Home,” which had military overtones, was his highest-charting Hot 100 crossover single.

Additionally, John Michael recently observed his son Walker Montgomery’s Grand Ole Opry debut, a celebration of the next generation of successful family in country music.
