Legendary Rock Band, Kiss, Sells Pophouse Entertainment Their Catalog, Name, Likeness And More For $300M

Kiss, the legendary rock band, has sold its song collection, name, image, and likeness, as well as their distinctive makeup creations, to Pophouse Entertainment, the Swedish music investment group behind ABBA’s “Voyage” hologram show.

Although the deal’s exact terms were not disclosed, Bloomberg and the Associated Press reported that it was valued at more than $300 million. Pophouse said in a statement that it would continue to highlight the group’s “iconic music, enigmatic personas, and expressive imagery for generations to come.”

In fact, the deal’s announcement comes just four months after Kiss revealed plans for an avatar concert using synthetic renditions of the group, akin to ABBA’s. “ABBA Voyage” has made more than $1 million every week since its July 2022 debut in London.

Last year, Lucian Grainge, chairman of Universal Music, announced intentions to tour the show globally, with a possible stop in Las Vegas. Bjorn Ulvaeus of ABBA is a co-founder of Pophouse, which has also bought collections from American singer Cyndi Lauper, Swedish House Mafia, and late DJ Avicii over the last two years.

At the closing show of their “End of the Road” tour in New York last year, Kiss hinted at their upcoming digital show by having avatar avatars of the band finish the show. In 2027, Kiss will host its first-ever digital show.
