Simi Criticizes Female Evangelist Endorsing Human Hair

Nigerian singer Simisola Kosoko, widely known as Simi, has publicly challenged a female pastor’s advise to women, highlighting issues with changing the color of their skin and failing to recognize their own attractiveness. In a trending footage, a female preacher dished out some dating advice to women and how to package themselves to appear more appealing.

The preacher advised single ladies who wanted to get married to interact with friends instead of keeping to themselves and hoping to attract the other sex. She recommended the use of wigs, cosmetics, and other beauty enhancers and stressed the significance of projecting a polished look.

Simi, however, did not agree with the content of the preacher’s advice, so she expressed her disapproval on X (formerly Twitter) in her usual outspoken manner. Simi stated that promoting such beauty practices and standards, even under the cover of “good advice,” still comes off as an expression of self-loathing.

Simi disputed the idea that natural hair is unmarketable, drawing attention to the weird popularity of skin-whitening goods in nations with stunning women of color. Simi also called out the female preacher for disseminating these kinds of teachings from the pulpit when she should be a role model.

Social media users wholly embraced Simi’s viewpoint, though, reiterating sentiments of self-worth and confirming that people are sufficient just the way they are.
