LeToya Luckett Visits The Elementary School Where She First Interacted With Beyoncé Before Meeting Destiny’s Child

LeToya Luckett had extraordinary success as a member of one of the most renowned girl groups in music history. The singer achieved four No. 1 hits while she was a member of Destiny’s Child and toured the world. However, in 2000, she was fired from the group after asking for management from a source other than Beyoncé’s father Mathew Knowles.

Luckett has revealed information about her life after Destiny’s Child over the years, including a time when she was homeless and looking for acting jobs. With all of that behind her and a thriving entertainment career under her belt, she is returning to her native Houston for her YouTube series, Leave it to LeToya.

When visiting St. James Elementary School in the video, Luckett claimed that it was there that she first met Beyoncé when they were both young.

Bey’s first day of class, the first day of the new semester, “she just so happened to be sitting in my assigned seat,” according to Luckett, who had attended that school since she was three years old. “I pointed that out to the teacher and [I said,] ‘She seems to be misplaced, she’s in my seat.’ And the teacher, Ms. Western, told me to go find me a seat, and that, you know, I was late, so, I missed my spot.”
