Meek Mill Blasted For His Question On How His Music Is Played By African Fans

American rapper Meek Mill has come under fire after asking what seemed to be a harmless inquiry. It all began when he posed a query on one of his tracks that has sparked controversy. The whole dispute began with his inquiry about the level of popularity of his songs in Africa and the music platforms in use in South Africa and Nigeria.

Internet users took offense at this question, viewing it as an indication of a lack of knowledge of the continent’s technical advancements. They responded with all kinds of scathing sarcasm to Mill’s X post in the comment section.

And yet, all of this had no effect on Mill. Meek Mill has been embroiled in controversy previously. Rev. Jomo K. Johnson, a Philadelphia-based preacher, demanded a boycott of Mill after the release of one of his songs, “Amen,” because of its graphic profanity. The single was a lead track off his “Dreams & Nightmares.”

But Meek Mill clarified himself on July 17, 2012, during an interview with BET’s 106 & Park. He said that, given the vocabulary in those songs, he doubted any church or preacher ever embraced rap music. Ultimately, though, he asserted, that’s simply life. He went on to say that he wasn’t trying to break anyone’s religious beliefs or anything like that.
