Joeboy Admits His Record Deal Was The Best In Afrobeats History

Afrobeats artist Joeboy claims that he and his former record company, Empawa Records, struck the greatest deal in the history of Afrobeats.

Joeboy recently spoke openly about his experience with Empawa, the record label deal he signed with his former label, and the difficulties he had adjusting to stardom after receiving global attention in an interview with Joey Akan on the Afrobeats Intelligence Podcast.

When asked about his time at Empawa and his experience with the contract he signed, Joeboy explained that, in comparison to other Afrobeat musicians, he had landed the best record label deal. He pointed out that stories of musicians suffering because of contracts they sign abound in the music business.

Though the singer acknowledged that he was still learning at the time, he claimed to currently know a great deal about the music industry that other people do not. Additionally, he conveyed his gratitude for learning about these things. Speaking about his days before stardom, he was shocked to learn that his first song, “Baby,” became an international hit three months after it was released.

He acknowledged that he didn’t think anyone would even notice him when he initially became well-known. Joeboy narrated how his ascent to stardom was sudden. He had to move out of his area in order to cope with his sudden fame.
