Nsikayesizwe David Junior Ngcobo, “Nasty C,” the well-known hip-hop performer from South Africa, has ranked his top 5 Nigerian rappers. The “Coolest Kid in Africa” crooner acknowledged up-and-comers like Blaqbonez and Odumodublvck while mentioning industry veterans like M.I. Abaga, Olamide, and Phyno. But his opinion has sparked some discussions on social media as people responded to his list. Some agreed with his taste, while others had other arguments about the names he listed. The debate over Nasty C’s top 5 Nigerian rappers highlights the subjective nature of music preferences. Different individuals have diverse views regarding ranking artists, leading to engaging conversations and a deeper appreciation for the rich talent within the Nigerian hip-hop scene.

In a recent interview with Glitch Africa, the renowned South African rapper was asked to name his favourite Nigerian rappers, and he didn’t disappoint in listing them.

“My top 5 Nigerian rappers? I wanna say M.I number one, Olamide, Phyno… Is Manifest from here [Nigeria] ? Okay, he is from Ghana. Damn!

“Yeah, I wanna say Oddy, he played me a lot of his tracks. Odumodublvck for sure, is my number four. And then Blaqbonez. Blaqbonez is my guy. One of my homies had asked me, ‘How do you know this guy [Blaqbonez] ?’. I was like I’ve known him for like a couple of years ago. Maybe four years ago.’

“At first, he [Blaqbonez] was someone I just came across with such good energy. He was funny on social media and I like to do that kind of stuff on social media. When I really started listening to his music, I was like, ‘Yo, he is actually hard.’ So, he is definitely my number five.”
