Nollywood Actors Odunlade, Kola Ajeyemi, Shaffy Bello Mourn Passing Of Veteran Akeem ‘Eba’ Alamutu

As Yoruba cinema stars grieve Akeem Alamutu’s demise, it has been a challenging month for many in Nigeria’s film business. When he posted a video of his senior colleague Alamutu’s Islamic funeral procession, veteran actor Odunlade Adekola sparked controversy online. Other Nollywood celebs, like Kolawole Ajeyemi, Jigan, Ijebu, and numerous others, were shown in the viral video. The video, which quickly went viral on social media platforms, attracted mixed reactions from fans and followers of the Nollywood stars. While some praised Odunlade Adekola for paying his respects to his late colleague, others criticized him for sharing such a private moment without consent. Nonetheless, the incident highlighted the deep bond and camaraderie within the Yoruba cinema community during this challenging time.

Actor Akeem Alamutu, called Eba, passed away on September 18, 2023, and the Nigerian film industry lost another of its numerous legends. Odunlade Adekola, a well-known actor and a veteran of the Yoruba film business, was one among the many familiar faces at Eba’s funeral procession. Eba was reportedly 63 years old when he passed away. There were numerous other faces at Eba’s funeral procession, including Kolawole Ajeyemi, Jigan, and Ijebu. The funeral procession was also attended by several of Eba’s fellow Yoruba film industry professionals.

Thoughts on Alamutu were sparked online primarily by a post by Odunlade on his page. In his opinion, the veteran was an elder in the field and a legend who deserved much more than he ever received. From the actor’s caption, an excerpt read,
