Joeboy Leaves Empawa And Launches Young Legend Entertainment With Warner Music

After a fruitful five years, Nigerian singer and composer Joseph Akinwale, better known by his stage name Joeboy, has formally announced his departure from fellow musician Mr. Eazi’s EMPAWA record label.

Joeboy’s exit from EMPAWA is accompanied by a strategic dual contract with Warner Music, a global music behemoth known for housing industry titans like Ed Sheeran, Cardi B, Burna Boy, and CKay. This news was made officially today, Friday, February 2, 2024.

Joeboy announces Young Legend, his own entertainment project, as well as taking center stage as Warner Music’s newest African flagship artist under this new deal. The Afrobeat musician was a huge hit at EMPAWA, putting out two EPs, Love & Light and Body, Soul & Spirit as well as two albums, Somewhere Between Beauty & Magic and Body & Soul.

His discography has numerous successful tracks and collaborations that have received over 2 billion plays overall on different digital streaming services. Joeboy’s Young Legend label follows in the footsteps of industry heavyweights like Don Jazzy, Olamide, and his former label boss, Mr. Eazi.

The label presents itself as an essential platform for developing and introducing up-and-coming talent in the dynamic Afrobeats scene. Joeboy’s deliberate action demonstrates his dedication to influencing not only his own creative future but also the careers of the next generation of musicians.
