Phenomenal Cuban Maestro, Roberto Fonseca Returns With “Mani Mambo”
Fonseca's New Track is a Reverberating Synthesis of Pérez Prado-inspired Mambo and Classic R&B Beats
Roberto Fonseca, the phenomenal Cuban virtuoso and Grammy nominee, unveiled his electrifying single “Mani Mambo” on April 27 via Wagram Music. Known for his stint with the esteemed Buena Vista Social Club and his masterful prowess on the piano, Fonseca steps into a new musical terrain with “Mani Mambo.” The track is a thrilling mix of classic Afro-Caribbean piano harmonies, mambo-infused brass bursts, and an unwavering R&B groove. Fonseca’s powerful vocals add further dynamism to the bubbling soundscape. “Together, we will experience the ecstasy and tears, relishing the enigmatic rhythms and tunes that spring from my heritage,” asserts Fonseca.
For the last two decades, Fonseca has blazed trails in the Cuban music scene. His solo discography boasts numerous highly praised albums, carved out during his tenure with the Buena Vista Social Club. The maestro also went on tour with the legendary Ibrahim Ferrer (1927 – 2005), and then took the helm as musical director for tours with the talented songstress, Omara Portuondo. Fonseca’s 2007 standout release, “Zamazu,” confirmed his abilities as a superb performer and composer, one of its tracks, “Llegó Cachaito,” was even used in the 2008 blockbuster movie “Hancock” starring Will Smith. The year 2012 brought a Grammy nomination for Fonseca’s album ‘Yo’, featuring a special guest appearance from the renowned Malian artist, Fatoumata Diawara, who later collaborated with Fonseca on an esteemed live project and on her recent album “London Ko.” Fonseca’s previous album, the highly praised “Yesun,” hit the shelves in 2019.
