Portable Declares “Love” For Nigerian Police Months After Arrest; Labels Them “God-Sent”
Whenever you see a portable news trend, you’re sure to know that the controversial street-hop artist is at it again as he continues to trend in the news almost every other day. This time, he has decided to become “friends” with the Nigerian police he has always been vocally critical of.
Habeeb Okikiola, also known as Portable in Nigeria, recently professed his appreciation for the police personnel of the country. The singer of “Zazoo Zeh” shared a video on his Instagram page on Friday night of some police officers stopping by his pub in Sango and expressing his admiration for them. Describing himself as a “Federal Government liability,” Portable said the “Nigerian police is a friend and a brother to the populace.” He pleaded with his supporters and fans to treat them with love and respect and “stop giving them problems.” He added the following caption to the video:
“Federal Government Liability. God sent Omo Ijoba IKA OF AFRICA. Wahala Musician The New Born Fela.
Police is our friend. Police is our brother, show them love and don’t bring only problems. Respect them police is our father. God bless Naija Police,”
Remember how, after what appeared to be his arrest by the Ogun State police command in April, Portable allegedly swore “fire and brimstone”? After he turned down the police’s invitation, the singer was eventually arrested. Remember how the internet was flooded with recordings of the street performer cursing and roughhousing a few Nigerian policemen during the arrest? The Ogun State police command had given the controversial musician a 72-hour deadline to report to the closest police station after the viral video. After being charged in court, he was granted bail and released from jail.
Indeed, this turn of events will leave fans and critics alike with much to say about this sudden “Friendliness.”
