ScHoolboy Q Shares On Getting To Play His New Album For Jay-Z

ScHoolboy Q, the renowned American rapper, released his highly anticipated album, “Blue Lips,” earlier this month, marking his comeback after a five-year hiatus. The previous album received criticism from fans and critics, raising concerns about his latest project’s success. However, the response to the new release has been quite positive, with fans and critics lauding the rapper for his growth and creativity.

One of the early indicators that the album would be a hit was a co-sign from the legendary Jay-Z. ScHoolboy Q shared a post on Instagram, revealing that he had the privilege of playing the album for Jay-Z before its release. This endorsement from Jay-Z, one of the most prominent figures in the hip-hop industry, was a significant boost to ScHoolboy Q’s confidence and a positive sign of the album’s success. In addition to the endorsement from Jay-Z, ScHoolboy Q almost collaborated with A$AP Rocky on one of the tracks. Unfortunately, due to scheduling conflicts, they couldn’t make it happen. Nevertheless, the album features a lineup of impressive collaborators, including 21 Savage, Kid Cudi, and Ty Dolla Sign.

Recently, ScHoolboy Q appeared on Paul George’s podcast, discussing the honour he felt in sharing his music with Jay-Z. He also revealed that he had the opportunity to play his previous albums for other rap legends, such as Nas and Dr. Dre. This experience highlights the importance of ScHoolboy Q’s contributions to the hip-hop industry and his place among the genre’s elite.

He said,

“He was actually listening and yeah, that was all I needed to know,” “So I got to do it and he was f*cking with it, you know what I’m saying? And giving me the breakdown and the details of it.”
