Jadakiss Shares His Regrets On Refusing Jay-Z’s Beat

Despite having a ton of successful songs released over his career, Jadakiss missed the opportunity to include one on the list and it was none other than one of Jay-Z’s singles. When asked if there was “one beat that you passed on that turned into a hit” that he still regretted, the LOX rhymer answered in a recent episode of the Clube 520 podcast, citing “U Don’t Know,” a 2001 beat created by Just Blaze. He also explained his decision to decline it.

Actually, there is quite a bit of history between Jadakiss and Jay-Z exchanging pieces. Jada had the original rhythm for Hov’s “Jigga My N-gga,” according to Swizz Beatz, who revealed this in 2017 during a Drink Champs sit-down. The Alchemist disclosed that Jay and Nas had tried “We Gonna Make It” originally two years earlier. The Alchemist returned two weeks later to discover that the song had been offered to another performer. After turning down the opportunity to work together, a friend introduced him to Jadakiss. In the studio, the producer played Jada a number of tracks, and the LOX rapper ultimately turned his favorite beat into “We Gonna Make It,” which was eventually released on his debut solo album, “Kiss Tha Game Goodbye.”

As special guests at Beanie Sigel’s The Truth LP’s 25th anniversary event next month, Jada and his other members of LOX, Styles P and Sheek Louch, will be reflecting on the early years of their careers. The remainder of Beanie’s State Property crew will also play at the gig, which is scheduled for March 8 at Philadelphia’s The Met.
