The Tinubu Certificate Drama Continues As Peter Obi Declines Atiku’s Invitation

The Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has declined the invitation of his Peoples Democratic Party counterpart, Atiku Abubakar, to join him in the continuing battle against President Bola Tinubu. During an International Press Conference in Abuja on Thursday, the former vice president encouraged Obi and Kwankwaso of the New Nigerian People’s Party, NNPP, to join his fight for justice.

This follows the issue over President Tinubu’s certificate, which Atiku acquired from Chicago State University, CSU. Atiku, who claimed Tinubu fabricated the certificate he gave to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, stated on Thursday that he intended to use the academic records provided by CSU in his Supreme Court case against the president.

In response to the appeal, Obi stated in a statement issued by the Labour Party’s National Publicity Secretary, Obiora Ifoh, that he is currently busy fighting to retrieve his stolen mandate at the Supreme Court. At a news conference in Abuja on Thursday, Atiku stated that he would not change his course.

When asked if Tinubu was pressuring him to withdraw the issue, Atiku explained that after the election, he learned that the president had dispatched a group of governors to reach out to him. He further stated that he was not scared that they would go after his economic interests, citing how the license of Intels, a logistics firm he co-owned, was withdrawn during the administration of ex-President Muhammadu Buhari.
