Timaya – Joko (feat. Shaggy)
One of Nigeria’s finest Dancehall artist, Timaya, has popped out again with a new studio offering, “Joko,” in which he also features respected OG international Reggae singer, Shaggy.
Timaya has not stopped making waves in the music industry, as he keeps building on the fine legacy of his long, illustrious career. This year alone, he has dropped several remarkable singles, including “My Moto” and “Tomato.” However, the Bayelsa singer shows that he is yet to run out of creative juices, which generously spills into his most recent work, “Joko.”
These two legends of their own genres work in unison to create an experience that is a beautiful, cross-cultural synthesis of similar styles. A Timaya and Shaggy joint is appealing not just because of the way their styles naturally mesh together musically, but also because of the element of surprise it comes with. No one really saw this collab coming.
Holding down the song’s production is the singer’s longtime collaborator Young D, whose sound engineering skills bring life and color “Joko.” In addition to “Joko,” the pair have worked closely together for over a decade, and this new track totally shows off their musical chemistry. Young D’s touch enhances the whole audio experience while also perfectly balancing out Timaya and Shaggy’s vocals.
