Big K.R.I.T. has released a surprise EP with the title, “Regardless It’s Still Timeless.” This would mark K.R.I.T.’s first project of the year since his studio effort, “Digital Roses Don’t Die” and “Full Court Press,” an joint project with Wiz Khalifa, Smoke DZA, and Girl Talk, released in 2022.

Although K.R.I.T.’s last two albums haven’t exactly been spectacular, we still think he can make a comeback, and “Regardless, It’s Still Timeless,” an 11-minute, four-track EP that serves as a sneak peek at his forthcoming sixth album, isn’t all that horrible. It’s really great that he dedicated half of it to pursuing a cheerful approach and the other half to carrying on with a few hit song series among his diehard fan base.

The all-time classic Rolex timepiece can be seen in motion, falling and disintegrating bit by bit. You’ll agree that the mangled watch looks like crap in that state, Regardless It’s Still Timeless.

Tracks and Features

Big K.R.I.T. takes off with KING PT. 5, the first song on the new EP, with some bragging that stems from having put in the work. In the short track that feels like a freestyle, the rapper compares his old life to his new existence of wealth, bad bitches and soft living with the homies. His immaculate flow just tells you this man has years on him in the game. His wealth of experience and brilliance, coupled with the chill hip-hop beat and his raw spitting game, makes the song so wrong for its brief playtime.

Coming in hot is SET ‘EM FREE, where K.R.I.T. goes in hard, rapping about his rap star lifestyle of knocking hoes down like dominoes, taking boat trips and just living it up his way. But while he is high off life, he doesn’t forget to shout-out his dawgs locked away, demanding and advocating for their freedom. Big K.R.I.T. may have left the hood, but the hood never left him. Also, the beat is fire, adding its own flavour to the song.

MY SUB PT 6, featuring Garfield Bright of Shai, enters the mix next with an unclear vibe, but great rendition from both artists, for sure. K.R.I.T. talks about a bunch of stuff like how dumb it is to fumble the bag or take Twitter fingers seriously. He is so confident in his sound that he believes he has people feening for his new releases. The featured singer holds down the forte and salvages the track from being entirely subpar, though his melodies weren’t really hitting. Regardless, it isn’t a bad outing.

MAN ON THE MOON brings the extended play to a great, reflective close. In the song, the rapper challenges societal ideas and the crucial questions that seem to have been swept under the carpet. The main one, which helps form the track title is how is that the government can sponsor a man’s trip to the moon but can’t afford a penny on reforms that will better the society? The unexpected little song segue toward the end is smooth but not very necessary.
