After a successful run of songs, Cameroonian singer and songwriter “Libianca” presents with her fans her debut EP, “Walk Away.” Libianca continues her successful streak in 2023 with a fantastic project that highlights her abilities even further.

“Walk Away” is a six-track ep featuring four guest artists: Moliy, Blaqbonez, Oxlade, and Chlöe Bailey. She demonstrated her strongest quality—vocal dexterity—on this endeavor. In addition to an excellent production, well-written songs, the singer also shows a great rapport with the special guests.

Libianca, in her custom-made crochet outfit, has her hands spread out on both sides like one who’s soaking in a level of freedom after having had a hefty load lifted from her shoulders, matching her energy throughout the EP.

Tracks and Features

Libianca begins her new project with the line, “You don’t really exist anymore,” which immediately takes you aback and peaks your curiosity, further drawing you in. Like she’s been waiting for so long to fully release the negative energy from a past toxic relationship, Libianca sings from her soul in such a sonorous manner. As much as she’s still healing from all the emotional wreckage and giving zero hoots about her ex-lover, she still sees him as a blessing “In a Way,” which is fascinating. She employs the services of a backup choir that raises the vibration of the entire song. Also, that sharp switch in tempo toward the end of the song just makes you appreciate the singer’s musical ingenuity.

Afterward, “angeldemon” comes on, continuing the vibe introduced by the previous song. This one, though, comes with a slight twist. In the first song, she is fed up and done with the toxic partner, but in this case, she’s the girlfriend stuck in a relationship with someone who can drop the other shoe at any time, leaving her walking on eggshells. So, when he’s in good spirits, he’s akin to an angel, but when the same person blows hot, it’s demon time. Her passionate vocals and melodies carry the needed energy that syncs with both her lyrics and the smooth instrumental.

The Shizzi-produced “W.O.M.S (Weight On My Shoulder)” featuring Blaqbonez and Ghana’s sweetheart, Moliy. They all come at the same subject of toxic romantic connections in different creative ways, from their vicious pen game to their sick melodies and ad-libs. Libianca really made a whole project about toxic relationships, which makes us wonder just how many she may have been in because this is a whole lot of venting going on. In this one, she sounds frustrated about having to deal with a man deserving of an award for transferring aggression. The flow pace set by her also helps the featured acts come through hard.

On “Mistaken” featuring Oxlade and US singer Chlöe, Libianca is now ridden with trauma from being with toxic lovers in the past so much she cannot fully get involved with another guy without first thinking it might be a rendezvous of her past angeldemon experiences. Though she killed her verse, Oxy and Chlöe did more than just killing. They killed, cooked, ate and left no crumbs, all leaning into the chill vibe and touching on the same theme.

“People,” the track that blew her up globally, is an already huge hit bringing closer home the popular but often overlooked topic of mental health and unhealthy coping mechanisms. “Jah,” which draws the curtain on the project, finds Libianca finding both hope and solace in the Almighty, who she believes will always be there for her unlike some unfortunate lovers of which she’s had her fair share. She brings back her choral backup for the perfect melodious ending.
