Halsey Biography

American singer-songwriter Ashley Nicolette Frangipane, better known by her stage name Halsey, was born on September 29, 1994. Halsey was raised in New Jersey where she was born. She was discovered through music she self-uploaded on social media channels, and Astralwerks signed her in 2014. She later released her debut EP, Room 93.

2015 saw the release of Badlands, her debut studio album. The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) later awarded the album Double Platinum certification. Manic (2020), Halsey’s third studio album, became her best-selling album globally, and its lead hit “Without Me” became her most successful single as a lead artist.

According to a 2020 Billboard estimate, Halsey has received over 6 billion streams in the US and sold over 1 million records. Her unusual singing voice is well known. She has won three Billboard Music Awards, as well as nominations for three Grammy Awards, a Billboard Women in Music Award, an American Music Award, one GLAAD Media Award, and an MTV Video Music Award.

In January 2021, Halsey shared the news that she and her partner, Turkish-American screenwriter Alev Aydin, were expecting their first child. They welcomed a son in July 2021. Halsey requested “primary physical custody” of their 21-month-old son in April 2023 so that she could take him on tours.

She had asked for shared financial responsibility and legal custody with Alev Aydin. As they intend to co-parent, she also asked that Aydin be granted “reasonable visitation” rights to decide what their son’s health care and educational needs should be.
