Born on August 27, 1999, Rodarius Marcell Green is an American rapper and vocalist better known by his stage name, Rod Wave. He has gained recognition as a pioneer of soul-trap music for his powerful voice and use of hip hop and R&B. His family is frequently the theme of his songwriting. His father and mother raised him. He was a student at elementary school when his parents got separated.
Rod and his mother struggled terribly to make ends meet. He would have to go to the streets to earn some money, involving himself in robbery and drug dealing. He also got arrested twice for his activities. His father remained a street fighter, and he was raised together with his brother though his brother’s name remains unknown. When he was only in primary school, his father was sentenced to 6 years for robbery.

On March 6, 2021, he unveiled the track listing for his album SoulFly and went on to drop it on March 26 and features Polo G only once, on the song “Richer.” The songs “Street Runner” and “Tombstone,” which reached number 11 on the Hot 100, are also included on the album. Wave caused significant controversy in late 2021 when he released the song “Nirvana,” which many believed to be a suicide message but which he vehemently rejected.
