Timaya Biography

Nigerian singer and composer Inetimi Timaya Odon, better known by his stage name Timaya, was born on August 15, 1980. He is a native of Odi in the South-South Nigerian state of Bayelsa. In honor of his roots, to which he has given much back, he is affectionately referred to as the Egberi Papa 1 of Bayelsa. Timaya became one of Nigeria’s most well-known performers by fusing dancehall, hip-hop, and soca with Nigerian music.

Timaya, dubbed the king of Afro-Soca music, is renowned for his remarkable fusion of Afro-Caribbean/Dancehall music with other musical genres. He is also a signed artist to DM (Dem Mama) Records Limited, which he founded.
