On Lagos Island, a five-story structure at Gbajumo Street, Balogun, was destroyed by fire. According to reports, the fire began on Thursday at almost midnight. According to Margaret Adeseye, director of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, the structure’s second floor was where the fire originated.
Adeseye stated, “A significant fire outbreak is now being attended to by the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service at 3/5 Gbajumo Street, Italian Plaza, Balogun, Lagos Island. “The fire department was alerted to a fire disaster at a structure used for warehouses and retailers with numerous containerized shops on Lagos Island at 23:54 hours. “While Alausa was on the site, two fire crews from the Ebute Elefun and Oniru were quickly mobilized.”
“However, the incident involved a five-story building used to stock and trade flammable items like shoes, bags, jewelry, and other goods. The first, fourth, and fifth floors were restricted after beginning on the second floor.
She claimed firefighters from the state fire department, the federal fire service, and the police were battling the blaze.
She mentioned that a preliminary assessment had shown that the community’s power restoration following an earlier blackout likely caused the fire. Then, in October 2022, a part of the market experienced a fire that destroyed products worth millions of naira, and three months later, another event has now occurred.
