Cross River Election Results Awaited as INEC Commences Collation Process

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has begun the collation of results for the governorship and state house of assembly elections in Cross River State. Voting has ended, and the electoral body has declared the collation center in Calabar as the official location for the process.

Prof Teddy Charles Adias, the State Returning Officer for the 2023 Governorship election in Cross River State, announced that the State Collation will commence at 5 pm. The collation of results at the state level comes after each of the results had been announced at the local government level.

Candidates across 28 states in Nigeria, including Cross River, are now in anxious anticipation as INEC begins to upload the election results. Some of the states, such as Cross River and Yobe, have the least number of candidates with 11 each. Governors and state assembly members from these states are now awaiting the results, hoping that justice will prevail.

In Cross River State, Governor Ben Ayade cast his vote and expressed his confidence in the electoral process, stating that justice would prevail. However, the election was not without violence. A member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was reportedly shot dead in Cross River State on Saturday, adding to the tension surrounding the election results.

As INEC moves forward with the collation of results, Nigerians await the outcome of the governorship and state assembly elections in their respective states. The electoral body’s commitment to a transparent and fair process will be crucial in ensuring that the democratic process is respected and upheld.
