2023 Elections: Lagos Police To Investigate Video Allegedly Threatening Igbos To Vote For APC

A video of the chairman of Lagos State Parks and Management, Musiliu Akinsanya, also known as MC Oluomo, allegedly threatening Igbos in Lagos at a polling place has been making the rounds online. Yesterday, the Lagos State Police Command announced that it is investigating the incident.

The Command said it would look into it if it is outdated or recycled. Chief of Police Benjamin Hundeyin, the Command’s PPRO, informed the public of this.

The event took place somewhere in the Oshodi district, which is MC Oluomo’s stronghold. He was heard saying: “I repeat am again. Any Igbo wey dem born well, make him come vote for here. Shebi I dey here. If dem born dem well, make dem come vote for here,” he insisted in the 15 seconds video as police officers tried to calm him down.

Hundeyin said: “While the video will be investigated to know if it’s an old, recycled one, it should be noted that this is criminal and totally against the Electoral Act, 2022.”

APC supporters were captured on camera at a polling place instructing voters to support the governing party or leave the polls without casting a ballot in another viral video. Voters attempted to complete their accreditation before casting their votes when the incident reportedly occurred on Fehintola Giwa Street Aguda in Surulere, Lagos State.

In the video, he was heard saying: “This place na APC o. If you do no wan vote for APC, make you go home o. If you no fit vote APC for here, go your house. Nobody force you to vote. If I see you vote another party, I go call Luger. This area na APC territory o.”

A voter (@chude__) tweeted the video while it became viral on social media during the nationwide presidential and National Assembly elections.
