50 Cent Sued By Radio Host After Hitting Her With A Mic In August

A lawsuit filed on Thursday officially claims that the rapper threw a microphone at the head of a Los Angeles radio DJ, and she wants 50 Cent to be prosecuted for the act. The complaint was brought to the Los Angeles County Superior Court by Bryhana Monegain, the noon host for Power 106 FM, a hip-hop station. The main point of contention, as examined by The LA Times, is the August 30, 2023, performance at Crypto.com Arena in downtown Los Angeles, which is part of 50 Cent’s Final Lap tour. Monegain claims that during his performance, 50 Cent (real name Curtis Jackson) threw the microphone “towards a crowded area” when he realized it was broken. The complaint stated that, as a result, “the microphone struck the plaintiff’s face and left wrist,” causing “severe and permanent” damage.

The law firm Morgan & Morgan, representing Monegain, strongly condemned the August incident and confidently referenced 50 Cent’s “In Da Club” to express their conviction in their case. The lawsuit further stated that Monegain sought emergency care at the Los Angeles General Medical Center right away following the incident for injuries that included a concussion, a “laceration over her forehead,” and pain in her left wrist. In addition, Monegain reported experiencing “dizziness, headaches, light and sound sensitivity, and nausea.” She claims that her injuries and “emotional distress” persist to this day.

A video of 50 Cent throwing his microphone off the stage during his Los Angeles show circulated on social media in August. The footage showed the “P.I.M.P.” rapper, 48, swapping and throwing his microphones twice—gently tossing the first one away, then hurling the other into the crowd. Several outlets, including TMZ and PageSix, published photos of a bandaged Monegain and her injuries, showing a bloody wound on the radio personality’s forehead.
