Keke Palmer And SZA Set To Star In TriStar Pictures’ Buddy Comedy Produced By Issa Rae

Keke Palmer and four-time Grammy winner SZA are slated to star in an untitled buddy comedy film from TriStar Pictures, with producer Isaa Rae. It appears that their recent collaboration on Saturday Night Live went really well, which reportedly gave rise to the new endeavor.

Lawrence Lamont, the director of Rap Sh!t, will helm the film, while Syreeta Singleton, the showrunner for the series, wrote the screenplay. Details of the plot are being withheld, however Rae and Sara Diya Rastogi will produce under Rae’s banner HOORAE. Deniese Davis of ColorCreative, Charles D. King, James Lopez, and Poppy Hanks from Macro Film Studios will also be involved. Singleton will also be co-producing

Executive producing are Sharon Palmer and Big Boss Palmer. Macro Film Studios is joining the project to produce and co-finance. The Sony Pictures CoCre lab produced the final product for the project. Previously, ColorCreative and Columbia Pictures had an agreement called the lab to find and nurture up-and-coming, diverse screenwriters who would go on to create and write their first studio picture based on unique concepts.

SZA joined Palmer as the musical guest on Saturday Night Live, which Palmer hosted. SZA makes her acting debut in the film; she had been thinking about a lot of possibilities and couldn’t resist the chance to work with Palmer again.
