Afropop Singer, Adekunle Gold, Reacts To Chelsea’s Ongoing Transfer Spending Spree

Adekunle Gold, a Nigerian artist, says Chelsea has effectively wrecked the transfer market this season. The Blues’ shopping spree continues with the arrival of Moises Caicedo from Brighton for a British-record transfer fee of €116 million (£100 million), which is expected to rise to €133 million (£115 million) with attainable add-ons.

Since Todd Boehly’s group took over last summer, the London club has spent just over £800 million on new players, around £430 million more than Manchester United. The Stamford Bridge club has spent about £270 million on seven players in the current transfer window, which is more than any other team in Europe.

According to the BBC, they are on the verge of breaking the record for the largest summer spend by any club in the world, which is now held by Real Madrid, after spending £292 million in 2019. Adekunle Gold, a Manchester United fan, resorted to social media to express his displeasure with Chelsea’s extravagant spending.

Many fans were not in agreement, according to the comments on his article, and some even believed Adekunle Gold was letting his bias as a Red Devils fan to influence his judgment. Gold may come on Twitter to rant about sports, but it doesn’t mean he isn’t having the time of his life. From having a top-charting new studio album, to going on cute movie dates with the wifey, AG is definitely falling up.
