Asake’s “Lonely At The Top” Becomes One Of The Longest-Running #1 Singles On Nigerian Radio

The No. 1 record on the Nigerian Radio chart has been equaled by Nigerian superstar Asake. Asake has continued to rule in 2023 after having an exceptional breakthrough year in 2022 with a succession of chart-topping singles that he triumphantly completed with a record-breaking first album.

His smash song “Lonely At The Top” from his sophomore album “Work of Art” has matched the number-one record on the TurnTable Radio chart previously held by Fireboy’s “Peru” featuring Ed Sheeran. ‘Lonely At The Top’ spent a nonconsecutive 10th week at the top of the chart between September 15th, 2023 and September 21st, 2023, equaling the record set by Fireboy’s ‘Peru’ remix between 2021 and 2011.

‘Lonely At The Top,’ Asake’s successful sophomore album, became the listeners’ favorite hit track. The single is also on track to make a new No. 1 record on TurnTable Top 100, Nigeria’s only aggregate chart that covers Radio, Streaming and TV.

Asake also revealed that his decision to pursue music over dance was motivated by financial concerns. The musician, also known as ‘Mr Money,’ explained in an interview that he chose music over dance because he was unsure if dancing would deliver the financial success he desired.

Asake emphasized the importance of combining music and dancing, arguing that one without the other could be seen as boring.
