Ayra Starr Criticizes The Headies Awards For Their “Nonchalance”
Ayra Starr has shared her opinions on the Headies Awards 2023’s Best Female Artist of the Year presentation. Ayra Starr, a singer and performer, has commented on how the Headies Awards 2023 organizers awarded her with the award for best female artist of the year.
The Headies Awards 2023’s Best Female Artist of the Year category was announced after the live show, which took place on September 3, 2023, rather than during it. Ayra, who has been officially announced as the category winner, vented her displeasure with the way the award was given out on social media hours after the main award show.

Ayra said she wouldn’t celebrate such a victory, emphasizing that women have worked so hard at their trade to be recognized with an award that is meant to be given off stage rather than at the main event. However, other experts contend that Headies’ goals shouldn’t be interpreted as a bid to diminish the efforts that Nigerian female artists have made to improve their profession over the previous year.
Thankfully, Ayra was nominated for other awards in addition to The Headies. She recently joined Nigerian hitmakers Rema, Wizkid, Burna Boy, and Davido on the list of nominees for the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards. In the Best Afrobeats category, the singer has two nominations to her name.
