Headies Awards 2023: Winners Of Untelevised Categories Finally Published

The Headies Awards 2023 have concluded, and the unannounced category winners have been unveiled. The Headies awards 2023, held on Sunday, September 3, 2023, were a memorable occasion as the future of Afrobeats was honored with prizes for their work in the years 2022 and 2023.

The Headies Awards organizers faced harsh criticism from fans for failing to announce the winners of 13 categories during the 16th edition of the award show on Sunday at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre in Atlanta, USA. Attendees and viewers around the world were shocked when co-host Osas Ighodaro stated midway through the presentation that the ceremony had come to an end with around 13 categories remaining to be presented.

It was evident that there was no award presentation for 13 other categories before the program was abruptly and unexpectedly terminated at 2:30 a.m. Nigerian time. The categories for Best East African Artiste of the Year, Best Recording, Best Songwriter, Best R&B Single, Best Vocal Performance (Female), and Best Female Artiste were not televised.

The additional categories include  Best International Artist of the Year, Best Alternative Album, Best R&B Album, Best Southern African Artist of the Year, Best Central African Artist of the Year, Best North African Artist of the Year. Social media users are furious at the ceremony’s abrupt end.
