Backlash Ensue As Black Metal Band, Matyrdom, Throws Pig’s Head Into Crowd

Black metal group Matyrdom may have overreached themselves with their most recent stunt, as fans took to social media to express their outrage after the band displayed a severed pig head during a recent performance. On Friday, Martyrdom performed at the White Swan in Houston, Texas. During the event, one of the band members decided to bring a severed pig’s head and throw it around the room. Part of the incident was seen on camera. A still photo of the head was also taken, and it’s a rather scary-looking object to have hurled in anyone’s direction. If you’re wondering how social media responded, the short answer is that it did poorly. The band’s boys are facing much criticism for bringing up such a stunt; some draw parallels to “Lord of the Flies,” while others are using a rationale of animal abuse.

Having made an apology stating that their act went out of control and they didn’t aim to offend anyone, Martyrdom must have recognized how bad things had gotten. They continued by saying that they were sorry to anyone who was “harmed” by the act and to any “vegans, Muslims, or other minority groups” whom they may have offended. Whether the pigs injured anyone is still unknown. Though it’s unclear how the set may have affected him, the group also expressed their regrets directly to the venue and the sound technician. Note that the group has previously engaged in this activity and that metal bands generally enjoy hurling pig heads as a pastime.
