Blaqbonez Says He Is Disappointed As He Addresses Wizkid’s Remarks About Nigerian Rappers
Nigerian megastar, Wizkid stated in an interview with 10 Magazine that the genre of rap was dead and that he was bored by how similar the beats and styles were. Wizkid is not a fan of rap music. Rappers in Nigeria responded to the statement, with some, like M.I., YCee, and Oladips, disapproving the Grammy winner’s remarks.
After remaining mute on the subject, Blaqbonez has now made up his mind to express his opinions, revealing that the comments have disappointed and upset him. On Monday, December 5, 2022, Blaqbonez wrote on Twitter that it is well known that he is a huge fan of Wizkid and that while the content of the interview didn’t concern him, the following comments made on Snapchat did.
On Snapchat, Wizkid said that only Nasty C, Sarkodie, and Black Sherif were the rappers in Africa he recognizes and that rappers were broke. Blaqbonez called the criticism unjustified and insulting, repeating that he owes everything to hip-hop and that he plans to keep carrying Nigerian hip-hop on his back.
Besides all this, Blaqbonez has been having a good time, doing shows in different Nigerian cities and promoting his new album, Young Preacher, which peaked at number one on Apple Music’s Top Nigerian Albums.
