Burna Boy Listed As One Of TIME’s Most Influential People Of 2024

Nigerian Afrofusion artist, Burna Boy, has been listed as one of TIME magazine’s most influential persons of 2024. The yearly list, which is now in its 21st edition, honors and highlights industry icons in the creative and literary arts, activism, politics, entertainment, and fashion.

Among the many artists and performers on the list, Grammy winner Burna Boy was included in the Icons category with US actress Taraji P. Henson, Ugandan campaigner Frank Mugisha, and Spanish football player Jenni Hermoso. Artists, Titans, Leaders, Innovators, and Pioneers are some of the other categories.

Angélique Kidjo, a Beninese Grammy Award-winning singer, paid homage to Burna Boy in the article, stating that his distinctive rhythm and incredibly unique style have taken the globe by storm with a remarkable string of firsts.

In the same spirit, Burna Boy was personally chosen to write 21 Savage’s citation, and the Afro-fusion artist had nothing but praise for the Grammy-winning American rapper. Burna Boy paid homage to 21 Savage, describing his approach to Hip-hop as “refreshingly genuine” and his songwriting as genuine and reflective of the nuances of the genre.

At the TIME100 Summit and Gala in New York, US, TIME will honor the 2024 TIME100 list. Speakers, performers, and special guests will be present, and Canadian-American actor and activist Michael J. Fox will receive the TIME Impact Award.
