Roc Nation Sports International recently revealed its expansion into South America by acquiring the São Paulo-based agency TFM. The financial details of the deal remain undisclosed. This move brings a plethora of up-and-coming Brazilian players, such as Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior and Arsenal’s Gabriel Martinelli, to Roc Nation’s already impressive list of clients, which includes Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne and Inter Milan’s Romelu Lukaku.

During his press conference, Michael Yormark, the President of Roc Nation Sports International, stated that…

“You think about [soccer] , and you think about talent; Brazil is probably the first market that you would put on the top of your list as it relates to a wish list for acquisition; if you know anything about TFM, they’ve got some of the best talent in the world.”

Roc Nation Sports has achieved a significant accomplishment with its recent acquisition. In 2019, the company expanded its reach globally and subsequently merged with R10 Agency, owned by UK soccer agent Alan Redmond. Before this acquisition, Roc Nation Sports represented 40 soccer players. However, with the addition of TFM, the firm’s clientele is expected to triple to approximately 120 players. According to Yormark, this is a significant milestone for the company.

“Our desire was to open up our own office, start from scratch, and build,” But after three and a half years, Roc Nation has “now decided that if we can find the right acquisition target that aligns with our goals and objectives and our overall strategy, then it’s the right opportunity to explore.” As with all agencies, consolidation has always been a big part of the industry—for entry and growth. Like other divisions of Roc Nation, they have taken steps to expand their sports portfolio by investing in and purchasing other agencies. This includes a focus on American football and basketball. Other agencies, such as the Los Angeles-based Wasserman, have also been active in the market, acquiring companies like Jet Sports Management for baseball, Esportify for rugby, Mullhaupt Management for golf, Caric Sports Management for the NFL, and BSE Media Group for talent marketing. Additionally, Creative Artists Agency made a significant move in 2022 by acquiring soccer powerhouse ICM partners in a deal reportedly worth $750 million just three years after receiving Base Soccer.
