Celebrities Like Falz, Davido, And Others Swarm Mohbad’s Candlelight Procession In Lagos
Award-winning performers Davido and Falz, as well as other celebrities, attended the candlelight procession for late rapper Mohbad, who died unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, at the age of 27. The candlelight parade for the late rapper was held today, Thursday, September 21, 2023, and saw a large crowd turn out to honor the musician who had warmed the hearts of many with his artistry.
Davido actively talked during the procession, emphasizing that Imole’s memory and work would be protected and preserved. Zlatan was also in attendance and spoke briefly about Mohbad and who he was to him.

The candlelight march and performance in his honor were scheduled to begin at 5 p.m., but people began to assemble earlier. Thousands of people flocked to the park, and prominent Nigerian entertainers began performing. Soon after, the police arrived and asked the gathering to disperse. Soon after, shots were fired.
To disperse the throng, police began shooting and firing teargas cannisters into it. Two persons were rendered unconscious, while a number of others were injured. Teargas cannisters have long been used to disperse protests in Nigeria. The police in Lagos said that it was the least destructive thing they could do to disperse protesters, but Amnesty International noted tear gas can have adverse effects.
