Two Hollywood heavyweights have been cast in A24’s latest movie, Mother Mary. The “epic pop melodrama” will cast Anne Hathaway and Michaela Coel in the roles of a legendary fashion designer and a musician. Director David Lowery of “The Green Knight” will lead the star-studded picture, and Jack Antonoff and Charli XCX will write the soundtrack.
A24 has chosen bleachers vocalist Jack Antonoff and British singer-songwriter Charli XCX to compose and produce the film’s original music. With artists like Lorde, Lana del Rey, Taylor Swift, and others, Antonoff is well-recognized for co-producing music. Daniel Hart will write the original score.
A24 touts Mother Mary as an “epic pop melodrama involving a fictional musician and her romance with a famous fashion designer,” although almost little is known about the film. Based on a script that David Lowery wrote, the movie will be produced by the director of The Green Knight and A Ghost Tale. He has completed three projects With A24.
The imaginary musician will be played by Anne Hathaway, whose most recent work includes “Eileen,” “Mother’s Instinct,” and “Idea of You.” Meanwhile, Michaela Coel, a household name after starring in the Black Panther film series and the dramedy “I May Destroy You,” will play the well-known fashion designer.
