Although some fans disputed the claim by pointing out that SA’s Tyla had already broken the 100 million record with her hit song “Water,” this is still a significant accomplishment for the singer, as the Grammy-nominated single is his fastest to hit and surpass the mark. However, Davido’s achievement is still noteworthy, as it represents a huge turning point for Nigerian music on an international platform like Spotify. Discussions and comparisons between fans only serve to emphasize how well-liked and influential African musicians are becoming in the global music industry.
But it’s undeniable that “Unavailable” is quite popular, and it’s only becoming bigger and bigger as football players, celebrities, and many more people have joined the social media viral challenge. Remixes featuring well-known musicians like Major Lazer, Sean Paul, and Latino surpass one million streams apiece. The music video for the song, which featured Davido and was released in March 2023, is also headed toward 100 million views on YouTube.
