Recently, it appears that well-known Nigerian Afrobeat musician David Adeleke, often known as Davido, has left his lavish home in Banana Island, Lagos State. Reliable sources claim that the mansion, haunted by memories of his son’s premature death, is currently available for lease.
Kofoworola Adewunmi, a realtor in Lagos, announced the news in an Instagram post. The property manager, Adewunmi, revealed that the opulent residence is currently offered for rent at the astounding rate of $150,000 per year.
The terrible history of this mansion is significant. When their only child, Ifeanyi Adeleke, tragically drowned on the premises of this particular house in October 2022, Davido and his wife, Chioma Adeleke, suffered a tremendous loss.
It is said that the singer of “Timeless” made the decision to disassociate himself from the painful emotions associated with the location after the terrible incident. This hypothesis appears to be supported by his choice to relocate and list the mansion for rent.
But Adewunmi’s Instagram announcement provoked a storm of discontent. Internet users worldwide filled the comment area, accusing the realtor of profiting from Davido’s personal misfortune.
The accusations didn’t scare Adewunmi, who firmly retorted, “You all need to stop making all these unsolicited comments under my post. Davido once lived in the property. Yes! However, he has moved out and the property is now back in the market for rent. If you all were so concerned and intimate with him to the point of knowing his residence, you should also be aware he has moved out.”
The opulent detached five-bedroom home is currently vacant, and Davido appears to have gone on to pursue solitude and quiet away from the spotlight. How this change will impact the singer’s life and career is yet to be seen.
