Spyro Discusses His Mother’s Crucial Contribution To The Success Of His Career

Nigerian Afrobeats musician Spyro, whose real name is Oludipe Oluwasanmi David, has shared details of his origins and his mother’s steadfast support as he journeys from adversity to achievement.

On Friday, May 3, the singer wrote a long, passionate statement in an Instagram post’s caption about his recent collaboration with Phyno on the song, Shutdown. The post also included insights into the difficulties the artist encountered during his early years. Spyro was honest in his perspective, stating that he had difficulties and a sense of alienation throughout his youth.

Spyro told the moving story of how his mother had been driven to tears by the conditions he was in when she paid him a visit at boarding school, and he acknowledged the difficult upbringing he had endured. Spyro’s mother persisted in being a source of courage and faith in him in spite of the setbacks, constantly encouraging him to reach his full potential.

She would give him encouragement and resolve by saying, “I know you are great; God told me and many prophets have confirmed it.” Spyro acknowledged the great influence of his mother’s prayers and thanked her for continuing to have faith in him even in the most trying circumstances.

He encouraged his generation to become aware of their duty to raise the next generation, acknowledging the value of spiritual support and parental guidance.
