Dice Ailes Honors Fela Kuti With The Release Of His New Single, “Dicey Baba”

Spectacular Afropop act, Dice Ailes, is one of the singers who transformed Nigerian pop music by fusing Western pop music with Afrobeats to create a modern sound. After a vacation from music, the award-winning singer has made a triumphant return with a new single, heralding the coming of a new project.

His latest single, ‘Dicey Baba,’ is a self-proclamatory song that begins with a sample of Fela Kuti’s 1986 album ‘Teacher Don’t Teach Me Nonsense,’ and quickly transforms into an instant club anthem. The song is a fantastic reintroduction for fans who have been waiting for new music from Dice Ailes after he took a 24-month gap after the release of his chart-topping EP ‘Ladies First’ in June of 2022.

It serves as an attestation of Dice Ailes’ rebirth and originality as an inventive creative. As we have seen from his earlier records, “Alakori” and “Money Dance,” Dice Ailes sticks to his typical chest-thumping on “Dicey Baba,” where he references himself as a hero entrusted with the duty of rescuing his fans from the grip of repressive teachers—a metonymy for his fellow musicians.

This song is the first of a planned series of releases that will announce the introduction of a new body of work by the iconic artist.
