Harrysong Shares Opinion On Marriage Amidst Celebrity Divorces
The well-known Nigerian singer-songwriter Harrysong has shared his thoughts on marriage and the recent increase in divorces, especially with Celebrities. The institution of marriage, he said, is not for the “wealthy, well-educated, or intelligent,” as he lambasted marriages of this generation. Harrysong made this comment following the collapse of the union between Shiela Courage and Isreal DMW, Davido’s logistics manager.
According to the ‘Reggae Blues’ singer, humility, selflessness, patience, and the capacity to serve one’s partner are more important in preventing a marriage from ending than income or education. He went on to say that it is not right for someone who is not selfless and proud to be married.
He wrote,
“Marriage is not for the wise, it is not for the educated nor for the rich. It’s not for the righteous and the over-sabis because none of these can keep you married. if you cannot be humble, selfless, tolerant, patient, accomodate and serve humanity. That your partner is humanity, you can’t humbly serve him or her? Don’t get married. Generation of pride, selfishness and over sabi.”
