Ice Spice Slammed For ‘Disrespectful’ Asian Edit Of Her Picture As Fans React

Ice Spice, a 24-year-old rapper, has recently come under fire over a controversial social media post. The post in question was shared by the rapper while promoting her new single, “Think U the S**t (Fart).” The original image used for the cover art of her latest single features a selfie of Ice, where she is seen sticking her tongue out and flashing a middle finger.

However, while promoting the song, she uploaded an edited version of the cover art on X, formerly known as Twitter. The edited version was a race-swap edit or application, depicting her as an Asian with a paler skin tone and smaller eyes. Some people even speculated that the rapper was drunk in the edited picture.

 

Ice faced swift backlash for the post, with many accusing her of demeaning Asian people in the picture. The rapper has not replied to the criticism and appears unconcerned by it. She posted the photo on her Instagram page to promote her new song, featured on her upcoming debut studio album, “Y2K!” The image is still up on her X account. The criticism surrounding Ice has only grown due to her choice to maintain the photo on her X account and share it on Instagram. Some fans are disappointed that she hasn’t acknowledged or apologized for the offence she caused. In contrast, others contend it might be a calculated attempt to create publicity for her next album.
