JT of City Girls Breaks Silence with ‘No Bars’ and Launches Rehabilitation Initiative

The Rapper Returns with a Solo Single and a Commitment to Support Incarcerated Women

JT, one half of the acclaimed rap duo City Girls, has released her first solo track since 2019, titled “No Bars.” The song, released under Quality Control Music/Motown, marks JT’s return to the music scene after a one-year prison stint and nearly two years on house arrest. The track is also set to feature on the upcoming City Girls’ album.

In addition to her musical comeback, JT is making a significant impact off the stage. She has pledged to use her platform to assist incarcerated women in their transition back into society. To this end, she has launched NoBarsReform.com, a website dedicated to providing resources such as therapy, job placement, social services, and housing to women nearing release or recently released from prison. This initiative is deeply personal to JT, who is committed to supporting women who may lack access to resources necessary for their reintegration into society.

City Girls, consisting of JT and Yung Miami, have been making waves in the music industry. They recently released “Piñata” in June, following their previous single “I Need A Thug.” They also collaborated with Diddy and Fabolous on the summer hit “Act Bad,” setting the stage for a Bad Girl summer. The duo has been consistently delivering hits since 2017, including platinum records like “Act Up” and the Cardi B-assisted “Twerk.”

JT’s solo features also include appearances on Nicki Minaj’s 2022 record “Super Freaky Girl (Queen Mix”) and Summer Walker’s 2021 track “Ex For A Reason.”

City Girls’ influence and success have not gone unnoticed. Billboard recently named them one of the 50 greatest rap groups of all time, and they were nominated for Best Group at the BET Awards. With over 15 billion cumulative streams and endorsements from hip-hop icons like Missy Elliott and Lil Wayne, City Girls are a force to be reckoned with in the music industry.

The launch of NoBarsReform.com comes at a critical time. Between 1980 and 2021, the number of incarcerated women increased by more than 525%, from 26,326 to 168,449. Although there was a decrease in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the trend reversed with a 10% increase in 2021. JT’s initiative is a timely and much-needed effort to support these women.

As JT returns to the music scene with “No Bars” and launches her rehabilitation initiative, she continues to demonstrate her commitment to making a difference both on and off the stage. Fans and followers can look forward to more music and impactful initiatives from this dynamic artist.
