Justin Timberlake Announces His Emotionally Charged Next Single, “Drown”

Justin Timberlake is keeping his fans engaged ahead of the highly anticipated release of his new album.

A second song from the 43-year-old pop star’s upcoming album, “Everything I Thought It Was,” is set to release this Friday, he announced on Tuesday. Through an Instagram video featuring a taste of the new song, “Drown,” he teased the release date and gave fans a sneak peek.

Performing several lyrics acoustically while seated at a piano, the hit-maker teased what appears to be an emotional ballad in the video.

As he reported earlier this month on Instagram that he had caught the illness, the “Mirrors” singer gave his fans an update on his health in addition to announcing the release date in the caption. “Drown” is the second song from Timberlake’s upcoming sixth studio album, scheduled for release March 15 (via RCA). It succeeds the album’s lead song, “Selfish.”

The Grammy winner offered fans a sneak peek at his much anticipated follow-up to 2018’s Man of the Woods in January by releasing the song “Selfish.” The mid-tempo ballad, which showcases Timberlake’s emotional side as he sings of loving someone so deeply that it makes you feel envious, has R&B elements that are reminiscent of his early solo career.
