K1 de Ultimate’s ‘Timeless’ Album Stirs Debate Over Davido’s Title
Seasoned Nigerian Fuji singer King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, known as Kwam 1 or K1 de Ultimate, has been trending online following the release of his new album “Timeless” on April 22, 2023. The album shares its title with Davido’s recent release, which debuted on March 31, 2023, after a seven-month hiatus.
Davido’s fans have harshly criticized Kwam 1, accusing him of copyright infringement and plagiarism for using the same album title. The Fuji musician has been at the center of online discussions, with many alleging that he copied Davido’s title to capitalize on the latter’s current fame and promote his 10-track studio album.
Adding to the controversy surrounding Kwam 1’s album, the cover art features the logo of Nigerian President-elect Asiwaju Bola Tinubu’s signature emblem of infinity. Some critics have drawn attention to the broken shackles symbol included in the design, further fueling the criticism of Kwam 1’s “Timeless” release.
Despite the backlash, Kwam 1’s “Timeless” album is now available, marking another milestone in the renowned Fuji singer’s career.
