Kacey Musgrave Shares Sublime Rendition Of Bob Marley’s “Three Little Birds” For Biopic

The 35-year-old country singer Kacey Musgraves has released the first single from the upcoming biographical movie Bob Marley: One Love. The single, an acoustic version of the iconic 1977 song “Three Little Birds” by Bob Marley and the Wailers, is a true masterpiece. Known for its chorus reminding listeners that “every little thing is going to be alright,” the song became synonymous with Marley decades after its release. Musgraves has managed to put her spin on the inspirational reggae tune while keeping the emotional weight behind the original. The result is an awe-inspiring, country-inspired song that evokes reflection and affirmation.

Kacey Musgraves’s version of Bob Marley’s iconic song is part of a seven-song EP titled Bob Marley: One Love (Music Inspired by the Film). The EP features other artists such as Daniel Caesar, Wizkid, Leon Bridges, Jessie Reyez, Bloody Civilian, and Marley’s grandson Skip Marley, who have reinterpreted Marley’s work. The EP is set to be released on February 14, 2021, the same day the movie based on Bob Marley’s life, “Marley,” hits theatres.

The movie is set to chronicle Marley’s life during the peak of his career and will focus on his 1976 shooting incident in Kingston, Jamaica. On the night of December 3, 1976, armed men invaded Marley’s home and opened fire, injuring him, his wife, Rita Marley, and his manager, Don Taylor. Despite being injured, Bob Marley continued to perform, appearing on stage at a peace concert just two days after the shooting. The film will also detail Marley’s efforts to save Jamaica from political unrest during his One Love concert.

Bob Marley died tragically on May 11, 1981, at the age of 36, due to cancer. The film is not an origin story but a tribute to Marley’s extraordinary life and his impact on music and the world.
