Killer Mike Reveals He Has Been Secretly Married For Years

During his recent guest appearance on the ‘Off Menu’ podcast, Killer Mike gave insight into his personal life by revealing a long-kept secret about his relationship with his wife, Shana. The rapper and activist explained that he and Shana had been married for years without anyone else knowing. Their decision to keep their marriage secret was personal, but they eventually realized they needed to tell their families.

Killer Mike revealed that he needed Shana’s family’s blessing to build a property, so they decided to come up with the truth. He knew he couldn’t move forward with the project without their support, so he bravely admitted to his secret marriage. Fortunately, Shana’s family understood and supported their decision to keep their marriage private. The couple has four children together and is happy to have finally revealed the truth about their relationship to their families.

Speaking to Ed and James, He said,

“Within the first two weeks (of dating) I asked her to marry me and she was like, ‘Get the f*ck out of here. You’re a rapper.’ So, after about four or five years, we got really high in Vegas, and really drunk, and I pled my love to her, and we got married in a f*cking drive-through marriage thing with our cab driver as our witness, and then we didn’t tell anybody we were married for nine years,”

“We’ve been married seventeen years now. So, for nine years no one knew, and then we finally had to tell her family – because her family is from Hilton Head Island (in South Carolina) and they’re very traditional… a tight-knit Black family, similar to mine.”

“We were talking about building on some land here, we’d like to put a house here, and they were like, ‘Nah, you’re just f*ckingon our niece. What are you gonna do to take it seriously?’”

“I was like, ‘Well, we’re already married.’”

Killer Mike’s story underscores the importance of keeping certain aspects of our personal lives private while emphasizing the need for honesty and openness with our loved ones. He shows that even when facing difficult choices, sometimes seeking the support of family and friends can make all the difference.
